Crimea is a maritime region. Shipbuilding and ship repair have always been among the key industries here. The production of marine vessels — from service to pleasure and tourist boats — requires the highest quality of welds, painting, and assembly. But the industry faces a chronic labor shortage: there are not enough qualified welders, painters, and assemblers. And the cost of labor is growing every year.
Robotic welding complexes have long been used in large shipyards — in the USA, Korea, China. Crimean shipyards, mostly small and medium-sized, have not been able to afford such equipment — until now.
What we offer
Tavrida Robotics has developed a line of robotic welding, cutting, grinding and painting complexes adapted for Crimean shipyards. The complexes are built on the basis of industrial manipulators (Kawasaki, FANUC, Yaskawa) with our own control system and tooling.
Why our complexes are different from standard industrial ones:
-
Adapted for ship hull geometry. Standard welding cells are designed for flat parts. We have developed special positioners and tracks for working with hull sections of complex shape.
-
Modular architecture. A shipyard can start with a basic welding module and add cutting, grinding, and painting modules as needed. Investment is gradual.
-
Local service. All complexes are serviced by our engineers in Simferopol. Spare parts are in stock. Downtime — no more than 24 hours.
-
Training. We train the shipyard staff to work with the complexes. After training, the operators can reconfigure the complexes for new tasks on their own.
Where we are already working
Sevastopol Marine Plant
In March 2026, we installed a robotic welding complex at the Sevastopol Marine Plant. The complex works on hull sections of patrol boats — welding of long-length joints, assembly welding, sealing welding.
Results over 4 months:
- Welding speed increased by 2.5 times (compared to manual labor)
- Weld quality — 99.2% of welds passed ultrasonic testing without rework (manual — 87%)
- Downtime due to lack of welders — reduced to 0 (one welder-operator works with 2 robots)
- Savings for the plant — about 800,000 rubles per month
Shipyard in Bakhchisaray
For a small shipyard specializing in pleasure boats, we installed a compact welding module with a working area of 2×3 m. The module is integrated into the existing production line — the hull comes on a trolley, the robot welds, the trolley moves on.
The result — the shipyard increased the production of boats from 8 to 14 per month without hiring additional welders.
Yacht Club
For a yacht club that repairs and services private yachts, we supplied a mobile robotic grinding complex. The complex is on a trailer and is delivered to the customer’s berth. Grinding of a 10-meter yacht hull — 4 hours instead of 18 hours of manual work.
What we plan
In 2027, we are launching a comprehensive program for the robotization of Crimean shipbuilding:
- 10 robotic welding complexes at the largest shipyards of Crimea
- 5 robotic painting complexes (especially relevant for environmental reasons — reduces VOC emissions by 70%)
- 3 robotic cutting complexes (plasma and laser)
- A training center for operators in Sevastopol
The program is supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Crimea and the Union of Shipbuilders of Crimea.
If you have a shipyard, a boat production, or a marine service — write to us via our contact form or leave a request through the contacts page. We will conduct an audit of your production and offer a robotic solution that pays for itself in 12–18 months.
